Smile and Sway acrylic and markers on canvas, 70 × 100 cm, 2026

Smile and Sway (2026) is a contemporary portrait by Milan-based artist DutyGorn, created with acrylic and markers on a 70 × 100 cm canvas. The painting explores the expressive relationship between human emotion, colour and movement through a face reconstructed from dynamic brushstrokes and intersecting geometric forms. Vibrant reds, yellows, blues, pinks and deep blacks interact with expansive white areas, generating a visual rhythm that appears to shift across the surface. The open mouth becomes a focal point of the composition, suggesting a moment suspended between a smile, a voice and an emotional release. Rather than presenting a fixed identity, DutyGorn investigates the changing nature of human expression, allowing abstraction and figurative painting to coexist. Through its energetic chromatic language, Smile and Sway transforms the portrait into a study of movement, spontaneity and the fleeting intensity of human emotion.
