Polyptych blue

Polyptych blue acrylic on different layers of canvas 100×110 cm – 2012
This work originates from a reflection on the relationship between identity, urban space, and memory. The fragmented portrait unfolds through a polyptych structure, where the face is broken into geometric blocks inspired by the architecture and street grid of New York City. Shades of blue move across the entire surface, creating depth, rhythm, and continuous visual shifts. The inspiration emerged from the artist’s trip to New York in 2009, when the idea of reinterpreting the city map as a personal visual code first took shape. The street blocks become painted modules, emotional coordinates, and fragments of memory. At the center of the composition, the eyes mark the meeting point, the symbolic place where the gaze finds its own space within the map, transforming the city into a language to be crossed, explored, and decoded.
